Parents as Leaders Program

In 2023, RCPEP launched a parent leadership program in partnership with the Carolina Family Engagement Center.

Many researchers suggest what educators instinctively know: When parents are engaged and involved in the education of their child, students have better attendance, grades, test scores and behavior which ultimately creates a better school environment for all learners

The Parents as Leaders Program works to:

  • positively engage parents in public education through teaching advocacy and leadership
  • make parents more aware of the available resources in Richland County regarding education
  • build a coalition of parents and caregivers who are dedicated to the improvement of public education through better relationships, programs and policies

Class topics for this program included but were not limited to:

  • Leadership & Communication
  • ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) & Resilience
  • Public Education on the Local and State Level
